Thank you for wanting to learn more about my practice and experience. My name is Allison M. Crandall and I have been a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Florida since 2014. I attained my undergraduate degree from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Science in 2010, with a major in psychology and minor in substance abuse studies.

I furthered my education at New York University's Silver School of Social Work. My focus in my graduate studies were children, high risk populations, family therapy, and trauma. I interned at a preschool and learned about childhood development and attachment. I concluded my studies with an internship at a residential treatment center for adolescent males with legal offenses, extensive trauma history, substance abuse and behavioral disorders, and mental illnesses. I graduated with my focus in child welfare in 2012. In both of my educational experiences, I attained the Dean's List.

I have always wanted to help others and am dedicated to each of my clients. I began my journey starting as a Big Sister, of the Big Brothers program. In high school as well, I spent time volunteering at Gilda's Club, an organization dedicated to those affected by cancer.

I have worked professionally in a variety of settings, such as schools, dual diagnosis centers, community mental health organizations, legally mandated facilities, and inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment centers.

I offer and believe in a collaborative, client-centered, and strength's-based mindset to therapy. I am solution focused, validating, and empathic, light hearted, humorous, and flexible in my approach.

In my free time, I enjoy the beach, going to the gym, spending time with my therapy puppy, Tony, and trying new restaurants with friends.

My Experience

EMDR training

EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy) is an evidence-based approach to treating trauma. It is widely accepted as being the gold standard of treatment in trauma informed care! I pride myself on offering this efficacious, evidence-based, versatile technique on a daily basis with my clients. EMDR assists and treats a variety of concerns; it is not limited to trauma. EMDR changes the way you view yourself and the world around you, while decreasing debilitating mental health symptoms.

Ego States Training

I participated in a 4-day EMDRIA Approved training about inner child work and ego states with Robin Shapiro, LCSW. During this seminar, I was educated on ego states and inner child work to heal emotional states. I received continued education on how to work with clients who suffer from dissociation and personality disorders. This model is suited for anyone who has difficulty managing emotions and/or trauma. Clients can expect an improvement in relationships, boundaries, and coping with emotions after engaging in this technique.

Four Blinks & EMDR 2.0

The Four Blinks Flash technique is an alternative trauma reprocessing therapy. It is not as rapid, but the client experiences less distress during this intervention, if they have extreme difficulty discussing severely traumatic events.

Please visit my Resources tab to learn more.

EMDR 2.0 was a revamp to the original 1987 model; it allows clients to focus on traumatic events during a session with less sets. Evidence suggests it rends the same successful results. I implement this regularly in my EMDR sessions.
